Taran is headstrong and courageous, though occasionally foolhardy, and harbors an intense desire to prove his worth and heroism through noble acts.

History:
Taran was raised by Dallben, the enchanter. Dallben made Taran his assistant pig-keeper to take care of a future reading pig called Hen Wen. Taran daydreams of becoming a great warrior, which keeps him distracted from his duties. When Dallben discovers that Hen Wen is in danger, he tells Taran to take the pig to a safe house further away from Caer Dallben. But then Hen Wen is captured and his taken to The Horned King's castle. Taran follows them to get Hen Wen back. He rescues Hen Wen and gets her into safety but then he gets captured In the dungeons, he meets Princess Eilonwy. They both try to escape the castle, along with a Fflewddur Fflam, the musician. Once they escaped, they meet up with Gurgi.

After finding Hen Wen, they were put on a task to find the Black Cauldron and destroy it. But once they received the cauldron from a trio of witches, they are captured by The Horned King's men. The Horned King uses the cauldron to raise his "cauldron born" army or the army of the undead. The group is then saved by Gurgi, but sadly, in order to save the others Gurgi sacrifices himself by throwing himself into the cauldron to stop The Horned King's army. As the Horned King tries to throw Taran to the cauldon, he gets consumed by the Black Cauldron's magic. Also destroying his castle. Once our heroes make it out of the castle, Taran makes a trade with the witches to give them the cauldron for their friend, Gurgi. The team rejoice when Gurgi is alive again. And they all headed for home.

After the war:
It started to get peaceful in the land of Caer Dallben. But then all of that changed when Dallben was greeted by a mysterious stranger at his doorstep. It was the Horned King! Dallben tells Taran and his friends to run before he was killed. As the group tries to escape, they get spotted by The Horned King's army, then were attacked. Taran was the only one that escapes from their grips. But realizes that he left his friends behind. Having no idea if they survived or not. Taran is now on his own.

Their purpose:
Taran wants to find his friends, Gurgi, Eilowny, and Fflewddur. And be reunited with them again. Also to stop the Horned King from using his army to destroy his homeland.
